City of Walks

Walk through heritage sites, ruins, Mughal monuments, Lutyens' New Delhi, rambling green parks with trees from all over the world and negotiate your way through bustling Old Delhi lanes side-stepping goats and vendors. Delhi is made for walks and the city has a slew of lovers who act as guides and story-tellers re-telling the great city's history, legends and the heroic tales.

You can walk through Delhi with a book on the best walks here... follow the route armed with a book and hunt through Old Delhi shops for old Mughal havelis and ancient Urdu books. Quests are aplenty here and walks the best way to go about it.

Guided food walks are great to savour the best vegetarian cuisine or the best Mughalai ones.

The truth is, Delhiites love to show off their ruins, bazaars, crafts and food and some of the walking or bicycle tours are totally free! Karma India travel writer, Shyama, particularly enjoyed her free walk with Pradip Kishen, author of the surprise best-seller, "Trees of Delhi'. "Nothing quite comes close to a tree walk with the author/tree curator, who lives in Lutyens Delhi, and his quips on the tree's journey to India via the Mughals or the British", goes her review.
