Where Magic & Sorcery is Taught

If they were a real Hogwarts this is it - a cluster of villages that live with wizardry and black magic daily. Youngsters are trained in the occult practices and learn ancient magic rituals. Mayong in Assam beguiles everyone who comes to know of the place.

From ancient manuscripts handed down over generations in families to other texts these are people who made magic their livelihood. However, much of it is lost as not all of the spells are in written form and continue to be taught in families in the form of chants. The villages have seen many venture out into the world as farm hands but attempts to preserve the culture has begun with a museum having been set up to preserve the manuscripts.

Highlights

  • Mayong is derived from the word 'Maya' or illusion
