See the classic North India before pausing in foothills for a few days of yoga and relaxation. Includes Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Haridwar, Ananda Spa!
India may be a single country, but it is almost better to think of it as a sub-continent which can only be experienced in parts. If you really want to see it all (figuratively), you will need to return many times. The old India hands who visit every year continue to find new regions even after 25 years.
This 8 night tour is really a quick introduction to a popular part of India that contains many of the most famous sights and sites in the North, but since a holiday is also a time to relax and reflect we have finished it with a few days at the world famous yoga spa, Ananda near Rishikesh where you can take stock and achieve an alpha state which you will take home with you.Detailed Itinerary
We will pick you up from the airport outside Delhi and if you are up for it, we will plunge into the hurly burly of Indian democracy whose locus is Delhi. Whilst many visitors come to India for the old India, you should not miss an opportunity to study the most noisy and hustling democracy in the world. It may have modelled itself on the british system, but like so much else in India, the locals have added bells, whistles, ritual and an awful lot of shouting and festival on top. This is democracy in action with press, institutions and politicians in a constant fervor of excitement and hubbub. Delhi is also a city of trees and green so we will explore it on foot discovering the connections of the open spaces and the human.
After a train ride from Delhi to Agra, you get a chance to see one of the world's most famous sights: The Taj Mahal. Long recognised as the ultimate expression of love (which is possibly a little poetic license), it continues to inspire visitors with it purity and refined architectural harmony. Early or late are the best times to visit, especially if you are a (keen) photographer. The temperature is moderate and the rising sun on the white marble create a constantly changing flux of visual colour and effect.
